“My Sacrifice” – Unplugged

“My Sacrifice” Acoustic – Scott Stapp

Lyrics:

Hello my friend, we meet again
It’s been awhile, where should we begin?
Feels like forever
Within my heart are memories
Of perfect love that you gave to me
Oh, I remember

When you are with me, I’m free
I’m careless, I believe
Above all the others we’ll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice

We’ve seen our share of ups and downs
Oh how quickly life can turn around
In an instant
It feels so good to reunite
Within yourself and within your mind
Let’s find peace there

When you are with me, I’m free
I’m careless, I believe
Above all the others we’ll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice

I just want to say hello again
I just want to say hello again

When you are with me I’m free
I’m careless, I believe
Above all the others we’ll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
Cause when you are with me I am free
I’m careless, I believe
Above all the others we’ll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice, My sacrifice

I just want to say hello again
I just want to say hello again

My sacrifice.

“My Sacrifice” by Scott Stapp is an inspirational song of hope and gives me a feeling of being free.  People sacrifice things everyday whether you are in recovery or not.  As someone reminded me in a comment in one of my earlier posts, everyone has their demons and it doesn’t have to be addiction.  There is no limits to what adversity and/or demons a person could be facing and I want to recognize that response by that person.

I look at this song as saying “hello” again to my true self again and fully accepting my Higher Power back into my life.  In my personal experience, being spiritually connected and continuing to read / work the steps has allowed me to accept who I am really am.  I know there is a lot of different views on how a Higher Power does or doesn’t help with recovery, but for me, it does.  In my experience with active recovery, I believe in myself and something greater than myself. It doesn’t have to be a Higher Power… It can be believing in yourself without a Higher Power in your thoughts of how you are living successfully with an addiction or how your facing other adversity in your life.

God Bless Scott Stapp and all of the personal turmoil he has been going through.
