Brad Paisley is an amazing artist and is breathtaking when he plays the guitar and sings. One of my favorite songs by him is ‘Welcome to the Future’. It’s implications that the world continues to change everyday and life is full of achievable dreams.
During the ‘Welcome to the Future’ video, there were several kids speaking about what they want to be when they grow up or what they want now. “When I grow up, I want to be an explorer”, “When I grow up, I want to be a fireman”, When I grow up, I want to be a vet”, “I want my mom to beat cancer”, “I want to be president”, “I want to feed the world”, “I want to compete in the Paralympics, I want to inspire kids”, etc. These kids speaking during parts of the song bring a whole to the meaning of being thankful and grateful.
As a teacher, I love seeing my high school students dream. Some say, “well that’s just not realistic”, but who’s to say what is realistic / achievable or not. Somethings may be obvious, but it doesn’t mean that person can’t work in the field of their dreams. Doctors have told patients that they would never walk again and some of those patients were walking in a year.
Life is about making a plan for the future and adapting as needed to stay focused on meeting objectives, which lead to accomplishing goal’s. I believe life is full of mini-objectives and there is really no end “be-all” goal, as life continues and new achievements are made everyday.
